SUMMARY:
The person in this 15-hour per week position of Managing Editor will work directly with and for Thomas Marchevsky and Fernando Castrillon, the Editors-in-Chief of the European Journal of Psychoanalysis, one of the premier psychoanalytic journals in the world.
The scope of the position covers many different aspects of the journal's operations and affords the Managing Editor an unparalleled opportunity to interact and correspond with world-class psychoanalysts, philosophers and other scholars in Europe, Latin America and North America.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Copy-editing journal texts and materials in preparation for publication
- Attending weekly zoom meeting with Editors-in-Chief and additional zoom meetings
- Maintaining and running system that consolidates and streamlines submission process, communication between editorial board members, email, online meetings, budget, tasks/to-dos, etc.
- Consolidating and organizing email distribution list for the journal. Assisting with Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media aspects of the journal
- Assisting with journal events such as symposia and conferences
- Helping Editors-in-Chief with research related to journal articles and issues of the journal
- Communicating and coordinating work with other top-tier journals
- Other editorial and journal related duties as they arise
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS / ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS
- Must be current student in PsyD department
- Not required, but a big plus is proficiency in and ability to translate between languages other than English, particularly Italian, Spanish, German and French
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Occasional work performed alone with ability to work remotely from time-to-time. Collaboration and constant work around and with other people.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
This position requires attention to detail, good memory, ability to work under deadline pressure, sitting and standing for long periods of time, oral and written communication, keyboarding for significant portions of the workday, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, patience, and tact to perform the essential functions.

- Working Conditions - Duties are primarily performed in an office environment at a desk or computer terminal, typically Monday through Friday.

If your job requires driving on behalf of CIIS you will be required to provide proof of a valid driver's license.
