This position reports to the FSQ Supervisor and is responsible for execution of Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) routines in manufacturing of aseptic products.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Execute routines defined by the Quality and Food Safety Plans across the aseptic manufacturing processes, including batching, processing, filling and packaging.
- Execute physical and chemical testing of raw batches, finished products and any other testing as defined by the Quality and Food Safety Plans.
- Execute sampling, testing and release of ingredients.
- Execute pre-operation routines, which includes sanitation approval for equipment and environment, and compliance against product change-over requirements.
- Execute CIP validation and allergen testing.
- Coordinate collection and storage of finished product samples during manufacturing operation.
- Execute hold routines including creating events for nonconforming ingredients, packaging material, raw batches and finished products.
- Execute verification and validation routines for sanitation and allergen controls.
- Execute review and approval of food safety and quality records created throughout shift.
- Execute verification and calibration routines for inline and in-process equipment, i.e., Scales, in-line filters, etc.
- Execute verification routines for Pre-Requisite records and Programs.
- Executing chemical preparation and chemical handling
- Provide contribution towards root cause analysis and customer complaint investigations.
- Provide contribution towards maintenance and improvement of FSQ documentation practices.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness and housekeeping of FSQ Lab areas.
- Ensure that required competencies to carry out these job functions affecting product legality, safety and quality are met in accordance with the Quality Policy and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard.
- Ensure compliance with corporate/plant safety standards and with applicable regulatory requirements while following the company’s Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Other duties, as assigned by management.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively written and verbally.
- Ability to document, describe and interpret records and documented specifications.
- Ability to enforce company procedures and policies.
- Ability to document inspection findings legibly and with accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSc in Food Science, Food Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience in a QA function within food or beverage manufacturing industry.
- Work experience and trained in HACCP.
Physical Activity:
- Regularly walk, move about, stand, sit, squat, bend, kneel, climb, reach w/ hands and arms, and lift/carry/push/pull 40 lbs.
Additional Compensation – Bonus Potential: You will be eligible to participate in the Gehl Food & Beverage Bonus Program for non-exempt employees. Under this Program, quarterly and annual bonus payouts are based on achievement of targeted production numbers. Gehl Foods, LLC reserves the right to change the Bonus Program at anytime, without notice.
Working Conditions: Frequently exposed to wet and varying temperature conditions between 60-130 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, vibration, moving machinery/electrical parts, risk of electrical shock, airborne particles, high/precarious places, toxic/caustic chemicals, allergens including soy, milk and milk by-products and fumes from food processing equipment.
