Silo Coordinator

Description

This position will effectively coordinate all aspects of the silo farm operations The Silo Coordinator must oversee the loading, unloading, CIP’s, GMP’s, inventory control/management and documentation of the liquid and dry silo areas. The Silo Coordinator will oversee the directing of assistant personnel including training and coaching of new personnel and ingredient plant users. The Silo Coordinator’s immediate customer is the VTIS/Ingredients Operators and blenders. The Silo Coordinator’s internal customers are, Planning Department, Inventory, and the Aseptic Supervisors. The external customers for the Silo Coordinator are, tanker drivers, pig-feed truckers. The Silo Coordinator manages the quality and integrity of all ingredients stored in the silos by maintaining the proper, temperatures, pressures, sterility and the equipment reliability.  

Requirements

Essential Duties &   Responsibilities:

• Know, adhere to and ensure the team adheres to all quality processes.
• Demonstrates knowledge of food safety and GMP processes through compliant Behavior and coaches team mates as needed.
• Is the overall leader for the silo area on his shift, displays high standards and demonstrates the ability to manage a fast paced environment through excellent time management skills. 
• Able to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner between all customers both internal and external.
• Provide solution to issues and develop action plans for improvement. Always thinking on how we can continuously improve this area.
• Maintain Silo Inventory/Information audits and supply supervisor with most current inventories 2hours prior to end of shift.
• Ensure all received ingredients get entered into the QAD system using Silo computer.
• Unload all types of trucks and tankers that deliver bulk ingredients to the silo area: Milk, Wine, soy, rice, coconut water bladders, Juices etc.
• Manage silo inventory and update silo placard as needed– with accurate silo inventory, temperatures, levels, last CIP’d, date filled and expiration date.
• Use the tanker schedule to plan and allocate the proper silos to receive products with out delays.
• Before unloading ensure all documentation is in order and samples have been taken and tested
• CNP Pre-Product Truck Inspection
• SOP SF002 Acceptability of silo for product
• Sampling Procedure for Soy Base 
• Conduct the appropriate Quality checks in accordance with CNP SOP’s
• CNP Pre-Product Silo inspection 
• Tankers clean according to wash out tag, seals in place, temperatures recorded and documented
• Ensure all hoses have been CIP’d, correctly connected, flow meters calibrated, hoses, clamps, valves are not leaking and all equipment working properly
• Cane is checked for acceptability prior to unloading and unloaded into the appropriate silos
• Inspect for leaks throughout silo/tanker process both loading and unloading.
• Minimize product loss
• Document CNP Kosher Truck inspection and distribute correctly Ensure Bill of Lading, Certificate of Analysis, driver’s wash out tag and load sheet are completed and distributed correctly
• Use your pocket silo audit and perform audit at least 2 times per shift.
• Properly tag each hose and silo for cleanliness, product stored, date CIP’d and date filled
• Communicate daily with VTIS operators, Team Leads, Supervisor’s status of Silo lines, Silo CIP’s
• Coordinate Silo/hose CIP with the VTIS/Almix users to ensure no bottlenecks for cleanings.
• Perform CIP and Allergen tests, swabs to ensure no product contamination.
• Maintain a timely management of all Silo, hose, CIP with correct documentation, 
• Maintain a timely management of all fittings, valves COP (clean out of place)
• Maintain in a timely manner the confirmation of silo’s, lines CIP’d on the Silo board
• Maintain cleanliness, neatness and safety of silo farm area
• Maintain PM’s and properly fill out orange action tags and follow-up
• Take initiative and participate in improvement efforts
• Maintain updates to OPL’s/SOP’s for Silo area
• Wash drums as required
• Ensure all milk receiving is executed as per SOP and Dairy requirements.
• Ensure all CIP systems are functioning properly to CIP silos effectively. Alert appropriate resources and provide accurate problem statements as needed.
• Coach, Train and oversee any silo assistants you may have working with you.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in a food processing environment or other manufacturing facility desirable
• Inventory management skills
• Must possess oral, written and listening skills necessary to communicate with team members, management and customers.
• Must be able to read and interpret batch sheets
• WCM knowledge
• Detailed oriented
• Mathematical skills
• Manage FIFO 
• Food Industry knowledge

Physical Activity:

• Regularly reach overhead, sit, stand, walk, and move about.
• Frequently climb and lift/carry 25 lbs.
• Occasionally squat, bend, kneel.

Additional Compensation – Bonus Potential:  You will be eligible to participate in the Gehl Food & Beverage Bonus Program for non-exempt employees. Under this Program, quarterly and annual bonus payouts are based on achievement of targeted production numbers.  Gehl Foods, LLC reserves the right to change the Bonus Program at anytime, without notice. 

Working Conditions: Frequently exposed to wet and varying temperature conditions between 60-130 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, vibration, moving machinery/electrical parts, risk of electrical shock, airborne particles, high/precarious places, toxic/caustic chemicals, allergens including soy, milk and milk by-products and fumes from food processing equipment.
