What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Manager position at California-Pacific Annual Conference?
The California-Pacific Conference announces a search for a Human Resources Manager. The Human Resources Manager is involved with most aspects of employment of staff of the Conference Center, Districts and Camps, including hiring and terminations, performance evaluations, leave administration and workers compensation, as well as maintaining the employee Human Resources (HR) database. The HR Manager is responsible for researching compensation levels for Conference staff, as well as supporting the Commission on Equitable Compensation on standards relating to clergy compensation.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor compliance with state and federal employment regulations. Seek legal counsel and ensure compliance with all Conference ministry areas.
- Coordinate the recruitment and hiring process for all Conference staff positions.
- Conduct post-offer, pre-employment background checks for selected lay candidates.
- Maintain a database of all Conference employment and salary records.
- Coordinate payroll action forms to ensure notification to all appropriate parties regarding hiring, status and salary changes and terminations.
- Develop and conduct new employee orientation for Conference Center, District Office and Camp staff.
- Process terminations to ensure timely payment of final wages, and notification of rights and responsibilities to terminating employees.
- Maintain records and follow required notification procedures for Conference staff on Family Medical Leave and other leaves of absence.
- Investigate grievances from Conference staff, following the process outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Develop, coordinate and conduct training for districts, local churches and Conference staff in human resources administration.
- Coordinate the annual Equitable Compensation application process
- Assist in the development of policies relating to Conference lay staff.
- Process workers compensation claims for Conference staff, including camps and district offices.
- Bachelors degree in HR management preferred
- HR certification preferred
- Minimum five years experience in human resources, including at least three years in HR management, in a non-profit environment
- Knowledge of federal and state benefits, employment regulations and workers compensation requirements
- Knowledge of and experience with health benefits administration, including Medicare plans
- Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of employment and interactions with others
- Personable and caring on the phone and in face-to-face contacts
- Familiarity with accounting and billing procedures
- Knowledge of HR database administration-ADP experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to compose letters and other correspondence using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. Organized, detail-oriented, persistent in finding solutions
- Able to conduct small-group presentations
- Knowledge of and familiarity with the United Methodist structure is helpful
Salary Range: $ 71,000 - $86,000
