Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and organized Pain Management Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support our pain management physicians and clinical team by assisting with patient care, performing clinical and administrative tasks, and ensuring that our patients receive the highest level of care. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of pain management practices, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced medical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Assist with patient intake, including taking medical histories, documenting vital signs, and preparing patients for examination.
- Explain pain management procedures and treatment plans to patients, ensuring they understand the process and expectations.
- Prepare and maintain patient records, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Help prepare patients for procedures, including setting up exam rooms and ensuring all necessary equipment is available.
- Assist in administering injections or other treatments under the guidance of the physician.
- Coordinate patient follow-ups and ensure that patients adhere to prescribed treatments and schedules.
- Clinical Support:
- Ensure that medical supplies and equipment are stocked and properly maintained.
- Assist the physician during patient exams and procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and medications are available.
- Educate patients on post-procedure care and pain management techniques.
- Monitor patient progress and report any changes to the physician.
- Administrative Duties:
- Schedule appointments, ensuring that patient appointments are confirmed and rescheduled as necessary.
- Handle patient calls, answer questions, and provide instructions regarding medications, treatments, and appointments.
- Manage patient records in compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
- Process insurance verification and billing as needed.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the medical team to ensure seamless patient care and communication.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated with the latest pain management treatments and medical technologies.
