Job Description:
The Procurement Specialist supports the Company’s procurement programs such as supplier risk management, contract management, and supplier performance management. The position works with business functions to conduct sourcing events and is responsible for addressing stakeholder requests and other procurement related items. This position can be located in Bakersfield, Chico, San Jose, or Torrance California.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manages or coordinates procurement programs such as supplier risk management and contracts management
Analyzes and validates pricing on long term contracts
Performs market research for various commodities
Performs match override approvals and validations
Sets up and updates vendors in Procurement/Financial system
Creates and executes contract amendments/extensions
Initiates Requests for Proposals (RFP) and analyzes proposed pricing from potential suppliers
Interfaces with suppliers to understand service capabilities, negotiates price and commercial terms, and resolves issues
Manages supplier performance collaboratively with key internal stakeholders
Works closely with internal stakeholders such as Legal, Engineering, and Operations on contracts to ensure specifications are appropriate for the services, terms and conditions are supported, formally agreed to, and authorized
Provides functional advice and assists in procurement training to other employees
Works with Supplier Diversity Program Manager to onboard and certify new vendors to increase utilization of diverse suppliers
Assists in the identification, evaluation, and implementation of technology to support procurement practices and process improvement
Identifies opportunities to reduce cost and improve efficiency
Complies with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations, and Procurement Policy as required; assists the Procurement Manager in enforcing the policy
Attends meetings and training as directed by the Company
Performs work on-site in the assigned office location
Performs other similar duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or related field and/or equivalent relevant experience is desired
Two to three years of experience as a procurement professional or contract administrator
Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) / Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or other certifications in procurement or supply chain is a plus
Experience in utility or construction industry is a plus
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
Proficient in the use of an enterprise-wide procurement system
Valid California Driver License
Salary Range: $70,800 - $153,800
