Calm Source is expanding service capabilities in the City of Danville, VA, Pittsylvania County VA, and the City of Roanoke/Salem, Virginia Areas. Calm Source is dedicated to creating the highest quality of care for Veterans and other members of our communities. The individual we are seeking is willing to develop and grow Calm Source service capabilities.
Calm Source is seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner (NP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), Medical Doctor (MD) who will provide outpatient psychiatric services for our Mental Health services, including Crisis Intervention, Mental Health Skill Services, Intensive In-Home, and Substance abuse outpatient counseling. The position is an in-person positions that will be based in our Chatham, VA location and potentially float between multiple locations.
Responsibilities
The NP, PMHNP, or MD is a vital member of Calm Source’s multidisciplinary team, addressing mental health and physical health needs. in the Danville, VA, Pittsylvania County, and the Roanoke/Salem areas.
They determine a client's appropriateness for admission and medical necessity for services. The NP, PMHNP, or MD is expected to utilize processes to assess the level of care needed for the client. The NP, PMHNP, or MD will coordinate client care with other medical and psychiatric providers, including transfer to an outside facility when required.
The NP, PMHNP, or MD is expected to coordinate its work with Calm Source’s outpatient counseling services and liaise with community partners and agencies, per Calm Source policies and procedures.
May need to provide after-hours and on-call coverage for crisis stabilization and emergency services.
Qualifications
- Education equivalent to license.
- Licensure in Virginia as a NP, PMHNP, or MD
- formal training and Board Certification as a NP, PMHNP, or MD is preferred. A minimum of two years’ experience is preferred.

- Must meet all criminal background and drug screening requirements.
- A valid driver's license and safe driving record are required.
