A CNC lathe machinist and programmer is a skilled professional responsible for setting up, operating, and programming CNC lathe machines to produce precision parts by interpreting engineering drawings, selecting appropriate cutting tools, writing CNC programs, and ensuring the final product meets strict quality standards, often requiring a high level of technical expertise in both machine operation and programming to achieve tight tolerances and efficient production.

- Blueprint Interpretation:
Accurately read and interpret complex engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to understand part specifications. - Machine Setup:
Set up CNC lathe machines by selecting appropriate tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters based on the part design and material. - CNC Programming:
Develop and write CNC programs using CAM software to define machining paths, speeds, feeds, and tool changes for the lathe machine to produce parts precisely. - Machine Operation:
Operate the CNC lathe machine, monitoring the machining process to ensure quality and make adjustments as needed. - Quality Control:
Perform thorough inspections of finished parts using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers) to verify conformance to specifications.
