This position is eligible for a 50 cent shift differential. 

Under supervision, performs park maintenance, general institutional cleaning, and park ranger work by means of manual labor and operation of powered equipment. Performs related duties as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains and cleans park trails, grounds, beaches, landings, structures, rest rooms, and other park facilities and grounds as required.
Operates a variety of powered equipment in carrying out these duties.
Makes minor repairs on equipment.
Prepares required records and reports.
Registers campers and other park patrons and responds to park visitors' needs or problems.
Collects park fees where necessary.
Reports to proper authority any problems regarding the operations of the park.
Empties and cleans waste and trash containers.

Education and/or Experience
Graduation from high school supplemented with coursework in natural resources and emphasis on outdoor recreation or related field; one year experience in equipment operation, equipment maintenance, general park maintenance or institutional cleaning; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills                                             
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to persons of various age groups representing diverse backgrounds including visitors, employees of the County; and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability                                       
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver's License.
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to work effectively with the public.
Ability to prepare accurate records.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
Ability to work independently evenings and weekends.

While performing the duties of this job majority of work activity is performed out of doors. Employee is subject to cold, heat, wet, dust, noise, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. Employee is subject to hazards, which include  radiant exposure (sunburn), occasionally to chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles. Injury from hazards can be avoided by following described safety measures.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
