What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Student Ministries position at Calvary Bible Church?
Summary
The primary purpose of the Director of Student Ministries is to give leadership and oversight to the disciple-making efforts of our 7th-12th graders. We are looking for someone who has a strong heart for young people and a deep love for Jesus and his church. This position will also provide opportunities for experience and growth outside of the Student Ministry that align with the person’s gifts and interests, as we hope to develop the next generation of church leaders.
Responsibilities
I. Primary Responsibilities
A. Facilitate Wednesday night youth group meeting
1. Oversee and make sure that worship is taking place on a regular basis.
2. Be responsible for the teaching segments, both Jr. and Sr. High, with the goal of helping students know what they believe, why they believe it, and what it looks like to live that out in their lives.
B. Facilitate Activities, Service Projects, and Retreats
1. Plan regular activities, service projects, and retreats with the goal of providing a well-rounded approach to include fellowship, discipleship, evangelistic outreach, and service.
C. Sunday School ministry
1. Oversee the S.S. classes within the 7th-12th grade range.
2. Ensure proper curriculum is in place.
3. Equip teachers for their role.
D. Develop and Disciple Adult Youth Leaders
1. Recruit, equip, encourage, and challenge leaders in their ministry to the students.
E. Students
1. Attend sporting events, musicals, recitals, school activities, etc.
2. Build relationships through informal times with students both inside and outside scheduled times.
F. Parents
1. Come alongside of parents to encourage, equip, and educate them for the raising of their children.
2. Keep parents informed about youth ministry activities and events.
G. Pray
1. Pray for the students and their needs.
2. Pray for the ministry and its leaders.
II. Secondary Responsibilities
A. Continuing Education
1. Read and remain current in both ministry and theology.
2. Attend classes, seminars, or conferences to enhance ministry skills or Biblical/Theological understanding.
B. Meetings
1. Meet with staff and church leadership as necessary.
2. Meet with others on a personal level (i.e. students, parents, other ministers)
C. Sunday Worship Service Responsibilities
1. As assigned.
D. Miscellaneous
1. Keep up with e-mails, phone calls, unexpected visitors, counseling

Calvary Bible Church (www.cbcmj.org) is a non-denominational evangelical church of between 350 to 425 on a Sunday morning, seeing steady growth since 2003. The congregation is a healthy mixture of ages and stages of life, including a rapidly growing children’s and youth ministry. In 2019 CBC completed a $4M expansion to create much needed classroom and foyer space. This was preceded by a sanctuary refresh project.
