Title: Director of Nursery Ministries
Status: Full-time, salary, exempt, ministry staff
Purpose: To assist the Director of Calvary Kids in partnering with parents and assisting families to pursue life in Christ by providing organizational leadership to the Nursery Ministries (infants and toddlers)
Relationships:
Accountable to the Board of Elders through the Senior Pastor with direct supervision for their ministry area to the Director of Calvary Kids. A member of the Ministry staff and appropriate ministry teams as assigned.
Qualification:
- Educational qualifications require an advanced degree (Children’s Ministry or related field), preferably with a Bible college background or Bible teaching experience or administrative experience over children’s education, with local church ministry experience
- A thorough knowledge of Scripture and its relevance to discipleship
- Gifts of leadership, administration, and pastor/teacher (shepherding and nurturing)
- Competency in Children’s education and training and development of leaders and volunteers
- Organizational abilities to manage a wide range of ministry needs and deadlines, as well as good communication skills (written and verbal)
- An ability to be a team player within the staff and lead teams of volunteers
- Protect the reputation and integrity of others through strict confidentiality. Demonstrate a high level of trustworthiness.

- Must be a professing Christian who affirms the Calvary Church doctrinal basis, vision and values, and philosophy of ministry

Responsibilities
One Sentence Job Description
Oversee Nursery ministries and shepherd staff by infusing them with the vision and values of Calvary Church so they can partner with parents in the spiritual development of Nursery aged children.
Leadership
- Implement, communicate, evaluate, and foster the vision for all programming for Nursery aged children in keeping with the overall vision and values of Calvary Church
- Continually inspire volunteers to value their role in the discipleship and life of every child.
- Develop and implement a recruitment strategy with CK Team
- Recruit, train, and equip volunteers, ensuring they are prepared to carry out the vision of the ministry
- Through modeling and intentional training, inspire key leaders in how to shepherd and encourage volunteer staff
- Oversee classes through coordinators, and when needed, manage classes without a coordinator
- Manage weekly staffing of classrooms, including substitute volunteers
- Consistently evaluate, develop, and implement a God-centered teaching curriculum for each ministry hour
- Oversee and facilitate the implementation of Child Dedication Parent Class and Event alongside other staff members/ministries
- Solve problems and think creatively (particularly related to staffing)
- Oversee Nursery/Early Childhood Associate
Management
- Oversee classroom organization, management, and assignments of children to groups
- With CK Team, foster an effective partnership with parents by providing training and resources while inspiring parents to be the primary disciplers of their children
- Involvement in special events for Nursery children and/or special events for Calvary Kids as directed by Director of Calvary Kids
- Direct the partnership between parents and Nursery team to help children who are experiencing difficulties (I.E. separation anxiety, illness, or discipline challenges)
- Update classroom equipment, order supplies, and maintain Nursery budget
- Coordinate use of Nursery facility with other ministries or outside groups
General Ministry Staff Responsibilities
- Strive to uphold the Staff Commitment
- Collaborate with the Calvary Kids Team in developing goals, budgets, reports, and evaluations as requested by the Supervisor, Senior Pastor or Elders.
- Stay current in cultural and ministry trends and biblical skills through professional development.
- Maintain a regular schedule by balancing time with people, study of God’s Word, and administrative oversight
- Be involved and invested in appropriate staff meetings and staff events
- Develop and maintain job procedures
- Be an active participant of Calvary Church’s corporate worship service
- Pray for the ministry of the church
- Teach as the opportunity arises
- Serve in other areas as requested by the Senior Pastor
Work Schedule and Time Allotment
Work schedule: Full-time, flexible, related to programs and projects.
Sunday and Wednesday PM responsibilities
To be managed and accounted for in cooperation with the designated supervisor.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Light physical work requirements (lifting 20-30 lbs.), sitting, prolonged standing, potential reaching, climbing, prolonged positioning under hot, bright lights, occasionally outside in differing weather conditions, and prolonged looking at monitors and computer screens and operating a mouse and keyboard.
