Scope:
The Curriculum and Instruction Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the academic development and success of students at CCA. This position is responsible for overseeing curriculum development, instructional practices, and the alignment of teaching strategies with the school’s mission and educational goals. The specialist will collaborate closely with teachers, academic leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive, rigorous, and responsive curriculum that prepares students for college and beyond.

Specific Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Management:
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the curriculum.
- Collaborate with teachers, team leads, and department heads to ensure curriculum alignment with academic standards, accreditation requirements, and the school’s mission.
- Review and update curriculum documents and resources regularly to maintain relevance and rigor.
- Facilitate vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels and subjects.
- Provide instructional coaching to teachers to enhance teaching practices and promote student-centered learning.
- Support teachers in using data to drive instructional decisions and improve student outcomes.
- Monitor the effectiveness of instructional strategies and make recommendations for improvement.
- Work with teachers to incorporate technology and digital resources into instruction.
- Coordinate standardized testing and assessments (e.g., MAP, standardized tests) and ensure that teachers understand and utilize data to inform instruction.
- Analyze assessment data to identify areas of improvement and assist teachers in adapting their instruction accordingly.
- Develop and oversee the MAP/Data Analysis Cycle to monitor and report on student progress.
- Create professional development opportunities focused on using data to improve instruction.
- Organize and implement professional development (PD) opportunities for faculty based on identified needs, curriculum changes, and school priorities.
- Research, plan, and support PD travel opportunities and conferences relevant to faculty development.
- Support teachers in obtaining and applying for PD/Tuition Assistance as per school policies.
- Assist in the development of long-term professional development plans, including the integration of Christian Philosophy of Education.
- Oversee the ordering, distribution, and inventory of instructional materials.
- Manage digital instructional resources and ensure that all teachers have the necessary tools to enhance learning.
- Implement the curriculum and instructional materials adoption cycle, including reviewing and recommending new materials.
- Work closely with the Heads of School, academic leadership, and department heads to ensure alignment of academic goals and practices.
- Participate in weekly academic team meetings and contribute to strategic planning for academic success.
- Serve as a liaison between the faculty and school leadership to communicate needs, challenges, and successes.
- Monitor the certification status teachers and administrators, providing guidance and reminders about compliance.
- Support new teachers with orientation and resources, particularly in the areas of certification, teaching strategies, and school policies.
- Offer mentorship to new and probationary teachers, fostering a positive and professional learning environment.
- Maintain records of teacher certifications and provide guidance on certification processes and requirements.
- Participate in school-wide committees, including but not limited to the Data Committee, Governance Plan, and Standardized Testing.
- Assist in the development and execution of school-wide initiatives as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Heads of School.

- Bachelor’s degree in education, curriculum & instruction, or a related field required.
- Master’s degree in educational leadership or instructional design preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience required.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during meetings, presentations, or events.
- Travel between CCA campuses as needed.
- Full-time, 40 hours per week with occasional evening or weekend commitments for academic events, training, and school activities.
