Job Summary:

This position primarily provides operational oversight of employees and processes of the clinical Microbiology section of the Laboratory, as well as performing the work of a Medical Technologist on the bench. Also assists with ensuring that departmental goals, timelines, and service standards are achieved while maintaining accrediting and regulatory agency standards. This position is designated as a “Technical Supervisor” and “General Supervisor” for Microbiology under CLIA.

Education:

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in lab science and minimum of 4 years training or experience in high complexity microbiology per CLIA requirements for a "Technical Supervisor".

Registration/Certification/Licensure:

ASCP, AMT, NCA or equivalent

This position requires a minimum of 4 years training or experience in high complexity microbiology.

Other Requirements:

Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.

Effectively communicates with all patient populations and staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice and by promoting a positive service atmosphere.

Effectively advocates for quality patient safety and satisfaction as a daily practice.

Demonstrated proficiency of computer skills necessary to effectively complete position requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Office products.
