Job Summary :
This position primarily provides operational oversight of employees and processes of the clinical Microbiology section of the Laboratory, as well as performing the work of a Medical Technologist on the bench. Also assists with ensuring that departmental goals, timelines, and service standards are achieved while maintaining accrediting and regulatory agency standards. This position is designated as a “Technical Supervisor” and “General Supervisor” for Microbiology under CLIA.

- Effectively communicates with all patient populations and staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice and by promoting a positive service atmosphere.
- Effectively advocates for quality patient safety and satisfaction as a daily practice.
- Demonstrated proficiency of computer skills necessary to effectively complete position requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work independently in a multi-task environment producing quality work.
- Ability to independently make appropriate decisions when performing assigned duties.
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in lab science and minimum of 4 years training or experience in high complexity microbiology per CLIA requirements for a "Technical Supervisor".
ASCP, AMT, NCA or equivalent
This position requires a minimum of 4 years training or experience in high complexity microbiology.
Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and / or any other department requirements.
