Job Summary:
-
Responsible for providing direct patient care in acute care, sub-acute and/or outpatient settings. Demonstrates knowledge of physical therapy treatment modalities and therapeutic procedures through his/her application in patient care. Effectively applies all physical therapeutic techniques appropriate to patient needs and physician orders. Completes all required documentation, assists in scheduling and attends interdisciplinary rounds/committee meetings as assigned.

Education:
-
Position requires a master's degree or 5-7 years equivalent combination of education and experience in related area. 6 months experience in an inpatient acute and/or sub-acute care setting required. Clinical rotations required during educational coursework in PT may be substituted for direct work experience.

Registration/Certification/Licensure:

Must possess a current license from the Maryland Board of Physical Therapy.

Experience:

Must demonstrate competence to provide physical rehabilitation services by reason of education, training and experience.

Other Requirements:
-
Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.

Required to lift and/or move more than 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with modified lifting devices.

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions that drive an appropriate plan of care.

CPR training required within 30 days of hire

If functioning as Women's Health Physical Therapist, appropriate certification required; i.e., Women's Health PT, Women's Health Specialist/PT.

Inpatient therapists must complete 4 hours of stroke training annually.
