Summary:
Calvin University is seeking applications for the position of Community Living Support Coordinator & Classroom Assistant within its Life and Career Studies Program. This program offers an inclusive college experience for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them to engage in both academic and community life in meaningful ways.
The Community Living Support Coordinator & Classroom Assistant will play a key role in managing the community living support services for students, working closely with local Community Mental Health agencies and private pay recipients.
In this capacity, the Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising Community Living Support workers, ensuring that they provide high-quality support to students. Additionally, this position involves handling regular billing for services rendered and ensuring that all services are delivered in full compliance with the rules and regulations set by partnering agencies.
Beyond the administrative and support coordination duties, the individual in this role will also provide direct assistance in the classroom. Working alongside the Instructor and Academic Support Specialist, the Community Living Support Coordinator & Assistant will support students during both instructional periods and structured study times. This will involve providing individualized support to students based on their specific needs, ensuring they have the resources and assistance necessary to succeed. Other duties may be assigned by the Instructor or Academic Support Specialist as needed to enhance the overall student experience.

Specific Duties:
While an Associates's degree in Social Work, Education, or a closely related field is preferred, substantial, relevant experience is also encouraged and will be strongly considered.
Candidates with significant work experience in community mental health services, supervisory roles, and service coordination will be given top consideration, with education serving as a supplementary qualification. The compensation for this position will be based on a combination of both experience and educational background.
The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling them to effectively engage with students, support workers, faculty, and external agencies. They should also have excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks, schedules, and service delivery requirements. The candidate must be capable of working independently, exercising sound judgment, and maintaining professional relationships within a team environment.

Specific Duties:
- Coordinate community living support services with Community Mental Health agencies and private pay recipients.
- Hire, train, and supervise Community Living Support workers.
- Ensure regular billing for services is completed accurately and on time.
- Ensure all services are delivered in compliance with rules and regulations set by partnering agencies.
- Assist the Instructor and Academic Support Specialist in the classroom as needed.
- Support both instruction and structured study times for students.
- Provide individualized assistance to students, addressing their specific needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Instructor and Academic Support Specialist to support the overall program.
- Collaborate with other members of the Life and Career Studies team to ensure continuity of progress toward students’ goals.
- Participate in monthly full staff meetings, weekly student support meetings, and incident review team meetings, when needed.
- Participate in PATH planning meetings
- Act as a Mandatory Reporter for all reporting requirements
