Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of complex accounting tasks, including financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and analysis. This position requires a strong understanding of GAAP and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The Senior Accountant will also play a key role in process improvements and special projects. The person in this role will provide guidance to Staff Accountants and will be responsible for reviewing work. Attention to detail and ability to work well with others will be key to success. This role reports directly to the Finance Controller.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and analyze financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
• Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis.
• Manage the fixed asset lifecycle, including: Tracking and recording fixed asset acquisitions, disposals, and transfers; Calculating and recording depreciation expense; Performing periodic physical inventory of fixed asset; Reconciling the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger; Analyzing fixed asset activity and providing reports to management; Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures related to fixed assets.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
• Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with audits and tax preparations.
• Develop and implement process improvements.
• Assist with special projects as assigned.
• Mentor junior accounting staff (if applicable).
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial information.
• Prepare and present financial reports to management.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP.
• Experience with accounting software (experience with Microsoft D365 is a plus).
• Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, v look ups).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
