Position: HR Generalist
Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per year
Job type: Full-time, Exempt
Job Location: In Person (with potential for hybrid/remote work)
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
JOB SUMMARY:
The HR Generalist plays a pivotal role in fostering a positive workplace environment by focusing on employee relations and supporting diverse HR functions. This position requires strong mediation, conflict resolution, and investigation skills to address employee grievances, manage disciplinary actions, and promote trust between employees and management. Additionally, the HR Generalist will support recruitment, onboarding, policy development, training, compliance, and reporting to meet client and organizational goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
This role is heavily focused on employee relations, requiring strong skills in mediation, conflict resolution, and investigation, while providing comprehensive support across various HR functions to meet client needs effectively.
Employee Relations:
· Resolve conflicts by addressing employee grievances and managing disciplinary actions.
· Act as an intermediary between employees and management to foster trust and maintain a positive workplace environment.
· Conduct surveys, track data, and analyze feedback to identify and address areas for improvement.
· Use active listening, empathy, and negotiation to resolve conflicts and build strong relationships.
· Conduct thorough, impartial investigations while maintaining confidentiality and ensuring compliance with policies and legal standards.
Supporting HR Responsibilities:
· Provide support with recruitment, performance management, onboarding and offboarding processes.
· Support the development, revision, and implementation of HR policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals and legal requirements.
· Assist with regular HR audits to ensure compliance with employment laws and recommend process improvements.
· Contribute to the customization and delivery of training programs to address specific client needs in both in-person and remote formats.
· Help maintain accurate and updated HR records and documents while ensuring privacy and confidentiality.
· Provide HR metrics and reporting to support client decision-making and strategic planning.
· Facilitate the interactive process to support ADA compliance and meet employee accommodation needs.
· Support the preparation and distribution of compliant employee handbooks and policies.
· Collaborate on the design and execution of compensation and benefits programs to ensure equity and competitiveness.
· Support compliance efforts with occupational health and safety regulations, including safety training and workers' compensation claims.
· Contribute to the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) tailored to client needs.
· Offer insights and recommendations based on HR best practices and current trends.
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
· A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field; or relevant HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR).
· A minimum of 3 years of human resources experience.
· Proficient in HRIS platforms, particularly Paylocity, demonstrating proficiency in payroll processing, reporting, and data management preferred.
· Accomplished in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, and conducting efficient internet research.
· Strong understanding of state and federal employment laws; familiarity with California labor law is a plus.
· Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
· Adept in building rapport and trust with management staff, providing insightful, objective, and pragmatic HR advice.
· Proven ability to manage HR with a high level of integrity, discretion, and sensitivity.
· Self-motivated, capable of working autonomously and as a collaborative team member in a remote setting.
· Strong written communication skills for the development of policy documents, training materials, and HR correspondence.
· Effective interpersonal and communication skills, capable of explaining complex HR policies and procedures to a non-HR audience.
· Sharp analytical skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of HR.
· Dedication to ongoing professional development in HR, payroll practices, and HR technology solutions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
· Able to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer components.
· Regularly required to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
· Ability to speak clearly and understand oral communication.
· Ability to move up to 20 pounds of supplies or equipment.
