Travel Cytologist (ASCP)
Location: Tyler, TX
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Position Type: Travel Contract
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, stain, and examine cell specimens for abnormal cellular patterns.
- Identify and document malignant, pre-malignant, inflammatory, and benign cellular changes.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including ThinPrep, staining equipment, and coverslippers.
- Assist pathologists with fine needle aspirations.
- Perform routine and special stains per laboratory guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain quality control measures and perform equipment troubleshooting as needed.
- Accurately enter patient information into the LIS system.
- Participate in continuing education and training for professional development.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Science or equivalent required.
- Experience: 2 years of experience in cytology, preferably in a high-complexity acute care hospital.
- Certifications: Cytotechnologist (ASCP) certification or eligibility. Must maintain current annual membership with certification agency.
- Skills: Proficiency in non-GYN and GYN screening. Strong analytical and organizational skills.
