What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tech Industry - Marketing & Events Specialist position at Cambridge Computer Services, Inc?
Are you looking for hands-on experience in event marketing and execution? We’re hiring a Marketing & Events Specialist to join our Marketing & Events Department and help design, plan, and execute large-scale industry events. It’s a role that blends creativity, logistics, and strategy—which is why we also like to think of it as an “Event-gineer Associate”—someone who brings both problem-solving and precision to the art of event planning.
This is not just an event management role; it’s a hands-on apprenticeship where you’ll work alongside a senior event strategist, gaining firsthand experience in everything from sponsorship logistics and vendor relations to budgeting, attendee engagement, and post-event analytics. You’ll shadow, support, and contribute to high-profile events while mastering strategic planning, marketing integration, and industry partnerships.
The ideal candidate has a few years of experience in multifaceted roles and is now seeking a place to establish roots and channel their ambition into meaningful professional growth. If you enjoy fast-paced environments, have an eye for detail, and are interested in shaping event experiences, this mentorship-driven role offers a strong foundation in event marketing and experiential strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of high-profile industry events.
-
Work closely with a senior event strategist to learn and apply best practices in event marketing.
-
Support sponsorship and vendor logistics, including contracts, communication, and on-site coordination.
-
Assist with budget tracking, expense reconciliation, and financial reporting for events.
-
Coordinate attendee engagement strategies, including registration, communications, and post-event follow-up.
-
Conduct market and competitor research to improve event strategy and execution.
-
Help develop marketing collateral, promotional materials, and event content.
-
Manage event-related data tracking, reporting, and analytics to assess performance and impact.
-
Provide on-site event support, including setup, execution, and breakdown for at least three events annually.
-
Support post-event debriefs, collecting feedback, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications:
-
A bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred, with a background in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, Business Administration, or Psychology considered a plus.
-
Proficiency in Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets
-
Familiarity with computer hardware, software, and the broader technology/IT ecosystem is a plus.
-
Although this role is primarily on-site (HQ), there may be times when work is done remotely. Accordingly, employees must be able to work independently and unsupervised when needed.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
-
A collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn from and support senior team members.
-
A keen interest in event marketing, planning, and execution, with impeccable attention to detail. Candidates should include a few sentences in their cover letter about their favorite Magritte painting and why it resonates with them.
-
Previous experience in event planning, marketing, or administrative support is a plus but not required.
-
There are many opportunities for growth in this role, but taking initiative is key to unlocking them.
