SUMMARY:
Sets up and operates machines utilized in the manufacture of wire used for pleated filters by performing the following duties.

HOURS:
- 7am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday with some overtime as needed
PAY:
- $19.50 per hour with $2 shift differential
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Operate wiredraw equipment following prescribed methods according to Operator Method Sheets.
- Prepare and position raw materials such as steel rod, in-process wire and chemicals for use in the production process.
- Observes operation of equipment and make necessary equipment settings and adjustments in order to produce wire within established specifications.
- Monitor wear of dies and replace as needed to maintain continuous quality production.
- Perform regular equipment maintenance to ensure proper operation of machinery.
- Perform prescribed quality procedures in accordance with plant quality system requirements. Utilize gages and other inspection devices to ensure production is performed in accordance with established quality specifications.
- Deliver and properly store end-product in designated areas.
- Operate process at an acceptable pace consistent with established labor rates and/or standards (96 Spools/Shift).
- Follow safety rules and take necessary precautions to ensure work is performed in a safe manner.
- Maintains equipment and work area to ensure a clean and orderly work environment.
- Sweep, take garbage, and keep machines stocked with supplies.
- Document production, quality and attendance information on appropriate forms to ensure proper accounting of work performed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to communicate with supervisor and co-workers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk for long periods of time. The employee occasionally is occasionally required to balance, climb and use foot pedals. The employee occasionally is required to lift carry, pull and/or push objects weighing up to 100 pounds. The employee is required to occasionally reach below waist, waist level, chest level, shoulder level and overhead level. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger and handle.

Forklift Driver’s License
Advanced operator may obtain Class K Waste Water Operator Certification
SPECIALIZED TRAINING
This position requires the Operator to transfer, mix, and test a variety of chemicals. For these reasons, the Wire Draw personnel are required to receive training in the following areas:
Hazardous material Handling
Hazard Communication
Lock-out / tag-out
Personal Protective Equipment
The Personnel must receive the initial training within 90 days of hire, and participate in an annual review each following year
