Job Summary:
Camp nurses are responsible for the care and supervision of all medical services. This includes
the administration of medication, looking after sick or injured campers and staff, communication
with parents, providers and camp administration.They are responsible for organizing and
maintaining medications, medical information as well as keeping accurate records of camper
visits. Camp nurses work under standing orders of the camp physician and report to the Camp
Director.The Health Center is staffed 24 hours a day.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the health and safety of campers and staff.
- Provide first aid and medical care as needed.
- Organize and maintain the Health Center supplies throughout the camp season.
- Review medical records including health insurance, camper health forms and medication lists prior to camper arrival
- Administer and document daily/ PRN medications (both prescription and over the counter)
- Being on duty on a scheduled rotating basis including rotations of overnight on-call.
- Maintain health records including but not limited to health center visits, treatment logs, medication logs accident/ incident reports
- Communicating with parents, providers, pharmacies, camp counselors and administration as needed regarding illness or injury
- Respond to camp emergencies, determine when higher level of care is needed including contacting providers and calling 911
