Position Title:
Climbing Center Staff
Position Description:
The Climbing Center Staff at Pocono Valley Resort is responsible for ensuring the safety, engagement, and enjoyment of all participants. This role includes supervising activities, providing instruction, maintaining equipment, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment for climbers of all skill levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety & Supervision:
- Oversee climbing activities to ensure a safe environment for all participants.
- Enforce climbing center rules and safety guidelines.
- Conduct pre-climb safety checks, including harness and equipment inspections.
- Instruction & Customer Service:
- Teach climbing techniques and safety procedures to all participants.
- Assist climbers in setting and achieving personal goals.
- Provide a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for climbers of all experience levels.
- Equipment Management:
- Inspect, maintain, and organize climbing equipment (ropes, harnesses, helmets, etc.).
- Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and is in good working condition.
- Report and address any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Facility Operations:
- Assist with setup and breakdown of climbing elements and activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the climbing center grounds and equipment sheds.
- Emergency Response:
- Perform rescues in a calm and efficient manner for any guest who needs assistance.
- Act quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Communicate with emergency personnel during critical situations.
Qualifications:
- Certifications (Required or Preferred):
- Climbing certification required (paid training provided during one of our scheduled sessions).
- CPR/AED certification preferred.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication and teaching skills.
- Knowledge of climbing techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Physical ability to climb and assist participants as needed.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a climbing or outdoor recreation environment preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to weather conditions and physical activity in an outdoor climbing environment.
- Standing, walking, and climbing for extended periods.
- Ability to lift/move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
