Office Manager

Location: Nevada City, California (onsite housing provided)

Position Type: Full-time, seasonal

Pay & Dates: $8,000-10,000 (depending on experience and responsibilities) for May 13th-August 9th [required dates]

Work available April 1st-September 20th.

As an Office Manager at Camp Augusta, you will help lead the camp’s operation and office team, ensuring that proper coordination between staff, camp, and families is happening. You’ll maintain professionalism and follow through in all communication, and manage efficient and effective work.

In addition to standard office work, several hours of your day are spent facilitating clinics (we train you) and engaging in evening programs with campers and staff. You’ll balance an office day with the daily magic of summer camp!

This position is a great for someone with several years of experience in office work and who loves the outdoors, youth, and community living! It is a wonderful opportunity for experience in administrative and operations-focused work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Office Management: Coordinate with the office team to ensure daily office operations - including phone calls, emails, and communications with parents, staff, and visitors - are executed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Professional Customer Service: Be the friendly and professional voice of Camp Augusta - handling inquiries, solving problems, and providing support to families and staff. You’ll take on more challenging and complex cases, and help to resolve them.
  • Camp Store Management: While we only sell a few items, you’ll oversee payment, inventory management, and organization of the space.
  • Record Keeping & Organization: Maintain camper and staff records, handle paperwork, and manage camp databases using spreadsheets and other tools.
  • Camp Engagement: Engage with campers in structured activities for several hours throughout the day (you will be trained in your choice of activities!).

Ideal Candidate: To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be comfortable multitasking, working in a fast-paced environment, and maintaining a positive, service-oriented attitude. This includes:

  • Strong Communication Skills: Able to speak clearly and professionally with a variety of stakeholders (parents, campers, staff).
  • Organized & Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage paperwork, schedules, and databases accurately and efficiently.
  • Customer-focused: A passion for helping others and creating positive experiences.
  • Team Player: You enjoy collaborating with a diverse team to accomplish common goals.
  • Flexible & Adaptable: Able to switch between office tasks and teaching activities, with a positive attitude.
  • Interest in Outdoor Community Living: While your primary role is in the office, you’ll be immersed in the outdoor, camp-focused community and lifestyle.

Minimum requirements

  • Must be at least 19 years old by June 1st, 2025
  • Must be available during our summer dates: from May 13th to August 9th 2025 (if within a couple of days, inquire) - more work available Apr 1-Sept 25th
  • Ability to commit to 5-8 hours of pre-camp onboarding work a week from when you are hired to when you arrive, and maintain open and prompt communication about that work
  • Willingness to receive the most recent COVID vaccination booster prior to arriving at camp.

Pay: $2,700.00 - $3,350.00 per month

  • Due to the closeness of the community and staff, we will be requiring COVID vaccinations for staff prior to the summer. Are you willing to receive a booster in the month prior to starting work at camp - if eligible to do so?
