What are the responsibilities and job description for the HEALTH SERVICES ASSISTANT - NORTH CAROLINA position at Camp Blue Skies Foundation?
Camp Blue Skies is an overnight camp for adults 21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities ranging from mild to moderate, who are able to communicate their needs and are independent with their ADLs. Camp sessions are held five times a year (two 5-day sessions in March, one 3-day session in May, and two 5-day sessions in October). We work to provide a safe environment in which each camper may learn, grow, increase their independence, make new friends, and have fun! The Health Services Assistant (HSA) is an RN who reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Camp Blue Skies Health Services Director. The HSA is expected to attend all five in-person camp sessions (or most sessions if agreed upon ahead of time) to assist with ensuring the safety and well-being of the campers, staff, and volunteers. The HSA will utilize their nursing skills and judgment to distribute medications, assess injuries, intervene with behavioral concerns, and coordinate care in an emergency. The HSA will also spend time out in camp, building relationships with campers, encouraging them, and being a positive role model. If the candidate is interested, year-round contract work may also be available for this position.
