Job Title: Head of Baseball
Location: Camp Cedar, Boys Residential Summer Camp, Casco, Maine
Dates: June 13 - July 27 (flexible start/end dates available)
Compensation: $700 per week, room and board provided, travel stipend
Overview:
Camp Cedar is seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Baseball to lead and inspire young athletes ages 7-15. This position is ideal for someone with strong coaching experience and a love for working with children in a fun, outdoor summer camp setting. As Head of Baseball, you will oversee a team of 5-6 baseball coaches, create engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans, and foster an environment where campers can develop both their athletic skills and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the baseball program for campers ages 7-15, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Supervise and mentor a team of 5-6 assistant baseball coaches, ensuring quality instruction and consistent program delivery.
- Create and implement dynamic lesson plans for small and large groups, accommodating varying skill levels and age groups.
- Organize and facilitate baseball practices, drills, and games, ensuring a positive, fun, and educational experience for all campers.
- Monitor camper progress, provide individual coaching when needed, and create a supportive and encouraging environment.
- Maintain a safe and structured environment for all participants, adhering to camp safety protocols.
- Collaborate with other camp leadership and staff to integrate the baseball program into the overall camp experience.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding camper progress, achievements, and any concerns.
- Assist with general camp duties and activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience, ideally in baseball, with a solid understanding of the game and how to teach it to children.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a team of coaches and young athletes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and staff.
- Experience working with children in a camp or team sports setting is preferred.
- Ability to adapt lessons to different skill levels, age groups, and camp resources.
- Must be energetic, enthusiastic, and have a positive attitude.
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus (or willing to obtain prior to start).
- Ability to work in an outdoor, fast-paced environment.
