What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tripper Camp Counselor position at Camp Chateaugay?
Are you an outdoor enthusiast with a passion for adventure and leadership? Camp Chateaugay is looking for a Tripper Counselor for Summer 2025 starting June 9th to August 13th with all food, accommodation and travel allowance included. As a Tripper, you'll lead exciting off-camp trips, including hiking, canoeing, camping, mountain biking, rock climbing, and white-water rafting in the stunning Adirondack State Park. You'll be responsible for:
✅ Leading and supervising outdoor excursions
✅ Packing and managing trip supplies, food, and first aid
✅ Teaching outdoor education (map reading, fire building, Leave No Trace)
✅ Ensuring camper safety and administering first aid/medications as needed
✅ Following park regulations and communicating with rangers when necessary
✅ Assisting with camper luggage transportation and storage
This is a unique role—Trippers do not live with campers but instead reside with fellow staff. When on camp property, you may be asked to assist in other program areas as needed.
If you're ready for a summer of adventure, leadership, and unforgettable experiences, we’d love to hear from you!
