What are the responsibilities and job description for the Art Teacher position at Camp Createability?
Camp Createability has an immediate part-time Art teacher positions open. Camp Createability is currently seeking a qualified individual to work within our art program. You would be supporting artists and day service participants who have autism or other developmental disabilities.
Clients are typically in the studio between 8am to 6pm Monday - Friday. The Art Teachers work within this time frame, as well as a variety of one time events for sales or exhibitions. You would provide direct support to artists with disabilities in Camp Createabilities studio space and in community settings. Teachers should have experience working with individuals with cognitive disabilities, excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, a professional demeanor and proficient in art. Teachers work alongside artists to help facilitate their artistic goals and general daily routines. Occasionally students may need help with personal cares.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging art lessons for students of varying ages and abilities.
- Foster a creative and inclusive learning environment that encourages artistic expression.
- Utilize different teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate art across the curriculum.
- Manage art supplies and maintain an organized, clean and inspiring art studio.
- Utilize communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
Requirements:
Experience working with people with disabilities (will train the right person)
Experience working with people on the autism spectrum (will train the right person)
Art knowledge a must, experience with procreate a plus.
Experience supporting individuals with self regulation and mood management
Ability to pass a criminal background check
Knowledge of adaptive communication and/or facilitated communication with people on the autism spectrum (preferred but will train)
Training in Art, Art Therapy, adaptive art or Art Teacher license with bachelors or masters degree, or equivalent work experience.
