Camp Fire Alaska Activity Specialist:
Position: Activity Specialist
Shift Hours: 7.5
- Summer Adventure Camp (June - July) Monday - Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm (with half an hour unpaid break)
FLSA: Part time, non exempt
Location: Multiple Elementary School sites across Anchorage and Eagle River
Reports To: Senior Activity Specialist
Supervises: No direct reports
Pay: Starting at $19.37
Position Description: Activity Specialists are responsible for creating innovative programming for youth through planning and facilitating specialized activities and programming that further learning, promote the development of new skills, increase social engagement, and involve youth in fun creative activities. Engage in work that supports Camp Fire’s Promise to provide youth with the opportunity to find their spark, lift their voice and discover who they are.
To be successful in the Activity Specialist position, it is essential to be adaptable, energetic, and passionate about engaging youth in a variety of activities. The role requires a strong foundation in facilitating diverse activities, such as STEM, arts and crafts, cooking, outdoor adventures, and gym-based exercises. A candidate must have prior experience in group management, as this position involves overseeing groups of youth during activities. As a key part of the Summer Adventure Camp, the Activity Specialist will spend significant time outdoors, so must be prepared for varying weather conditions and maintaining a positive attitude in all environments is crucial. A successful candidate will demonstrate excellent leadership skills, the ability to keep youth engaged and safe, and a commitment to making the summer experience enjoyable and educational for all participants.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Age requirement: 18-years-old
- Reliable transportation required and ability to work at multiple sites
- Training or experience facilitating activities in a small group setting such as a youth development, education, or recreation program
Requirements: (can be acquired after hire with agreed upon schedule):
- Adult/Child/Infant CPR, AED & First Aid
- Food Worker Card
- Mandated Reporter training certificate
- Health & Safety certificate
