South County Camp Fire Afterschool Program Coordinator
Location : South Deschutes County : Three Rivers / La Pine, OR
Status : Salary
Schedule : Year-round, full-time schedule based on an average of only 35 hours per week (fluctuates seasonally based upon the needs of the programs). Includes after school hours, and school holidays (Bend-La Pine Schools). Other hours are flexible with the ability to do some work from home. Will be required to attend some in-person meetings in Bend

Position Overview :
Camp Fire Afterschool (CFA) is a flexible and fun option for families of youth in K-5th grade looking to balance after school care with enrichment opportunities and social-emotional skill development. Filled with time outdoors, fun challenges, STEAM activities, games and songs, CFA supports youth in exploring their sparks, practicing social skills, creating connections, building community, and gaining confidence. The program typically hosts 40 youth with 3 counselors at each site and runs directly after school until 5 : 30pm 5 days a week.
The Coordinator will be responsible for general program management of the Camp Fire Afterschool program at all South County sites, currently including Three Rivers Elementary and La Pine Elementary. They will work closely with the Program Manager to collect program quality data and to develop and expand upon our current school year offerings in the future. During summers, the CFA Coordinator will act as part of the leadership team for our SummerKids summer program in Bend.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Create themes for CFA, and design, plan and implement intentional skill building and social-emotional lesson plans for each session. Plan supplemental activities : games, songs, crafts, etc. that will enhance each days themes
- Develop and implement program routines to build community, to grow relationships, to inspire new interests and a sense of purpose, and to incorporate youth voice and leadership.
- Manage a safe physical and emotional space for youth through direct interactions with youth and parents and thoughtful behavior policies, including quickly responding to medical or behavioral incidents.
- Communicate expectations and needs clearly with campers during camp and with parents during and prior to camp.
- Manage organization and ordering of program supplies and cleanliness and maintenance of space.
- Utilize industry best practices to help with peer-to-peer conflict and emotional regulation of campers.
- Responsible for scheduling CFA staff, finding subs as needed and supervising staff while onsite
- Under the direction of the Program Manager, trains new staff on program resources and expectations and helps to develop targeted professional development plans for staff
- Acts as Recess Coach at Three Rivers Elementary 1-3 days a week facilitating guided play using the Playworks model, and supervises other Recess Coaches

Compensation : Annual salary starting at $39,000, with a final offer depending on experience.
