About Camp Fire North Shore: Camp Fire North Shore is a traditional summer camp offering school-age
children the opportunity to explore the outdoors, engage in fun activities, and build lifelong memories. A
centerpiece of the camp experience is our in-ground pool, where campers cool off and enjoy swim
lessons and free swim each day. As an Aquatics Director, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our campers
have a safe, enjoyable, and enriching time at the pool.
Position Overview:
The Drama Specialist will be responsible for creating and implementing weekly skits and songs
for camper groups, working with children to develop their performance skills, and overseeing a
lively end-of-week performance every Friday at 3:00 PM. This is a fantastic opportunity to
combine your love for drama with your passion for teaching, while making a lasting impact on
children in a fun and supportive summer camp environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Plan, create, and lead weekly drama activities, including skits and songs, based on
the camp-wide theme of the week.
- Performance Preparation: Lead campers through rehearsals, helping them build confidence in vocal, body
expression, and performance skills.
- End-of-Week Performance: Oversee a final performance every Friday at 3:00 PM, where campers
showcase the skits and songs they’ve prepared.
- Safety & Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children during drama activities and maintain
a positive, supportive environment.
- Creative Collaboration: Work with camp staff and campers to create props, costumes, and backdrops for
the performances.
- Engagement: Encourage campers to express themselves freely and have fun with drama activities, while
fostering teamwork and collaboration.
- Stage Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the "theater in the rough" stage area
and all materials used during activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A degree in performance arts, childhood education, or a related field is desirable, but not required.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- At least 2 years (or 2 summers) of experience working with children in a group setting.
- A passion for drama, theater, and working with children in a creative, dynamic environment.
- Ability to inspire and engage children with varying levels of experience and confidence in performing arts.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with a willingness to collaborate with fellow staff and
counselors.
General Terms:
- Orientation and Training: Mandatory orientation/ training sessions will start in early June (June 9th or
June 10th for orientation, June 23rd & June 25th for training).
- Summer Camp Duration: June 30th, 2025 – August 29th, 2025.
- Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:30PM
- Compensation: Based on experience.
