Summer Assistant Director, Camp Michigania, 2025
Basic Function & Responsibility:
Provides support for the full time camp administrative team during the summer season, including staff supervision, camper satisfaction, camp program leadership, resource management, administrative/logistical responsibilities, and emergency/crisis response. Helps create and maintain an inclusive environment and a sense of belonging for campers and staff.
Overview:
- May 19-August 23, 2025 in person at (flexible start/end dates for the right candidate)
- Pay range $12,000.00-15,000.00 for the summer season dependent on experience and availability (including room and board on site and opportunity for immediate family participation in camp programs)
- Opportunity for fully remote hourly work beginning as early as February ($18-19/hour, 10-20 hours/week), assisting with staff on boarding and camp preparations
Day to Day Functions May 12 - August 23:
- Works ~6 days/week, ~8 hour shifts in rotation with other camp administrative team members
- Willingness to work most evenings and weekends through the summer
- Serve on-call at times during summer camp programs for staff and participant concerns, issues, emergencies and crisis mitigation/management
Potential Roles/Responsibilities (dependent on candidate hired and leadership team make up):
- Administrative/Logistics
- Provide support for seasonal staff hiring and on-boarding processes in collaboration with Associate Director & Alumni Association HR Team
- Oversee and manage some staff processes (i.e. staff guests, time off requests, work shifts, etc.) as delegated by Associate Director
- Oversee other logistics related to staff life & work environment (i.e. staff schedules, shirt orders, staff board, mid summer staff on boarding, etc.) as delegated by Associate Director
- Camp Programs
- Assist with the oversight of general operations of Camp Michigania
- Support and collaborate with area leadership team members (support with program schedules, programs, staff management, ordering supplies, etc.) as delegated by Associate Director
- Provide leadership and support for various special events and special programs for campers
- Staff Community
- Assist with design and implementation of staff training & staff meetings in collaboration with Associate Director
- Provide leadership for various staff community initiatives (events, committees, etc.) in collaboration with Associate Director & Staff Mental Health Coordinator
- In collaboration with Associate Director, provide opportunities for personal and professional growth for seasonal staff through coaching, proactive communication, feedback, recognition, and ongoing learning
