What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Staff (Seasonal) position at Camp Mountaineer, Scouting America?
Objectives: Summer camp staff manage and operate Camp Mountaineer as a youth camp for the program offered through Scouting America. Staff are leaders and role models for other staff and campers.
All camp staff must:
- Become a registered member of Scouting America.
- Live at Camp Mountaineer for the duration of the resident camp season (approximately six weeks).
Specific Responsibilities: The Ecology Director works closely with the Program Director in providing leadership to Ecology Staff and campers – specific responsibilities are:
- Adhere to the Guide to Safe Scouting.
- Responsible for safety of all campers and staff.
- Must be available to attend training prior to our camping season.
- Be knowledgeable of and enforce all procedures related to health and safety, council and national policies, use of equipment, and operation of facilities.
- Interact with Scouts, leaders, and staff members to identify areas that require attention to maintain the delivery of quality programming.
- Maintain high morale of the staff, inspire trust, recognize achievement and make note of poor performance with the camp director through personal observation and staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by the camp director for the successful operation of the camp.
