What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Program Director (seasonal) position at Camp Pembroke?
Come join the incredibly talented and dedicated team of camp professionals at Camp Pembroke! As a core member of our Senior Staff Team, the Program Director (PD) is responsible for infusing fun, creativity, and excitement into each day through planning and implementing daily programming, evening activities, trips, and special events.
The PD lives in a private, air-conditioned room with a private bathroom, Wi-Fi, and weekly laundry service. All meals included! Competitive compensation, workers’ compensation, days off, and camp tuition stipend for children attending camp. Prior (residential) camp experience is a plus!
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise and support Department Head Team of 12-16 adults
- Ordering of supplies and equipment
- Responsible for the repair and oversight of equipment across all departments
- Ongoing training and support for counselors and their skill-based development within departments
- Coordinate nightly evening activities, rainy-day activities, trips, special events, and other miscellaneous programming tasks
- For each planned activity, trip, or special event, the PD is responsible for preparation, gathering necessary materials, assigning necessary counselors to run the evening activities, supervision, cleanup, and evaluation of activity
- Effectively communicate with staff, campers, and co-workers
- Collaborate, take initiative, and be a team player
Job Details include:
- Seasonal contract for 10 weeks with 4-6 hours per week of work in the off-season (off-season contract is separate)
- Tuition compensation is available for employees with campers
- 8 scheduled days off over a 10-week contract
- Weekly meetings with Co-Directors prior to arrival at camp to ensure successful onboarding

- Have an affinity for project planning, coordinating, scheduling, and planning events and activities
- Enjoy multi-tasking and maintaining organization in fast-paced work environment
- Have the ability to accept guidance, constructive feedback, and support from teammates
