What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Nurse position at Camp Riva Lake?

We provide experiences aimed at helping campers become more independent and self-confident. Activities and interactions are intentional to support each girl's development of positive character traits, leadership and physical skills.

About the Role
- Will act as primary medical caregiver to campers and staff, including advising the directors on health matters and preventive care
- Will Set Up/Pack Up Infirmary- Kottage Komfort (KK)
Set up includes
-Inventory all medical supplies
-Coordinate procurement of other supplies needed
-Establish process for dispensing medications to campers
Pack up includes
-Deliver unused camper meds to parents
-Inventory items and pack up KK
-Properly dispose of unused medications
- Will secure, track, and dispense all medications to campers and staff throughout the camp session
- If new, meet with the pediatrician and other physicians on call for CRL to go over protocol and procedures prior to camp
If needed, coordinate successful transition to an incoming nurse
- Take campers to the doctor/hospital as needed and work with local doctors as necessary for on-going patient care.
Review all health forms prior to campers/staff arriving at camp
- Conduct camper health checks when campers arrive
- Shall keep records and make medical reports on campers/staff.
- Is on duty 24 hours/day, 7 days per week, except when on leave. Leave will include time off every day and at least one 12 hour block of time per week. Details will be agreed upon with the Camp Director.
- Shall not smoke, drink, or use illicit drugs during the camp session, on or off duty, due to responsibilities resuming immediately upon return to camp
- Shall not engage in inappropriate relationships with other staff members, counselors in training, or visitors while on duty. Shall not engage in inappropriate relationships with campers on duty or off duty. An inappropriate relationship is one that is sexual, romantic, physical, intimate, or may be perceived as such.
- Shall not discuss personal relationships with campers.
- Understands and agrees that a Director reserves the right to dismiss at any time, any nurse who, in the sole opinion of the Director, jeopardizes the welfare and reputation of CRL, its campers and/or the premises.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must be a Registered Nurse and provide proof of applicable certifications current through the camp session.
- Must also provide proof of general and medical malpractice insurance through camp session.
- Must comply with all applicable laws and regulations whether on or off duty.
- Must comply with all camp regulations and policies.
- Must agree to a background check and sign a voluntary disclosure statement
