Camp Thunderbird for Boys and Camp Thunderbird for Girls operate separately with a spirit of cooperation. Our community includes staff and campers from eight to adults from 32 states and 15 countries worldwide.
Our competitive compensation package includes a salary based on experience, travel, a temporary nursing license, and room and board. Nurses live in comfortable accommodations in our health centers.
Each camp hires two nurses (RN and/or Grad) to work in our on-site healthcare centers for the summer season. Doctor on-site. Nurses provide daily medical services, distribute medications, maintain charting/record keeping, manage the health center, and confer with directors and doctors on individual and community health issues. In addition, we are providing a lot of TLC to campers and high school-age staff who are far away from their families.
Nurses are integral members of our community and are welcome to join in on all the camp fun!!
Job Type: Contract
Salary: Starting per week, the salary for an experienced RN is $1500; for a grad nurse, it is $1200.00; and for a student nurse, it is $500. The temp license is covered, as are room and board and a travel stipend.
Required education:
- RN or LPN nursing license for nursing staff
- First year of nursing school for non-nurse
- EMT course completion.
Preferred experience:
- Working with children and/or adolescents: 1 year
- Must have a strong passion for nursing and working in a unique nursing environment
Required license or certification:
- A nursing license is required for an RN, and the ability to obtain a temporary MN nursing license is available. We compensate for the MN temp license.
- Graduate Nurse: taking boards or having just completed boards.
