Position Summary:
The Admissions Counselor and Recruiter at Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM) is responsible for effectively managing all recruitment of qualified applicants for admissions to CUSOM, under the direction of the Director of Admissions. The recruiter will be responsible for recruitment of applicants within the state of North Carolina, surrounding areas and nationally. The recruitment activities will include scheduling speaking arrangements at colleges and universities, personal contacts with pre-health advisors, student clubs and organizations, special presentations, virtual recruitment fairs and events throughout the target areas and national locations. The recruiter will counsel applicants as they apply to the program and assist with all inquiries about admissions and the application process. The Admissions Counselor and Recruiter will work on a regular basis with the Director of Admissions to determine recruitment strategies, plan and implement admissions/recruitment events and efforts. This position will also recruit for the (Masters of Science in Biomedical Science) MSBS program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruct applicants on the admission processes for Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Medicine through recruitment fairs, virtual fairs, individual in-person meetings, phone calls and email correspondences while in the office and while traveling.
Accurately advise prospective students on the requirements and the admissions process that will include information such as CUSOM’s mission; required prerequisites; minimum/competitive GPA and MCAT scores; explanation for letters of recommendation; types of professional experiences needed; how to become a strong applicant; as well as any additional needs.
Remain current on new campus offerings, policies, and procedures, communicating those effectively to inquiring applicants.
Coordinate with the Director of Admissions to set up campus visit opportunities with colleges & universities for career/graduate school fairs, classroom visits/presentations, and club information sessions to present the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Program (both in and out of state institutions) to new or top feeder schools, to include the arrangement of recruitment event(s) registration, flight and/or car, and hotel reservations for overnight and long distance trips.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with Campbell University’s UG pre-health departments, other college/university pre-health advisors, and career counselors and keep an up-to-date contact list.
Work with the Director of Admissions in meeting the school’s recruitment strategy.
Maintain communication with prospective applicants and pre-health advisors about recruitment opportunities and on-campus visits by providing relevant messaging content.
Make decisions as to the best marketing strategies to pursue, to achieve the specified goals of the admissions office.
Assist other admission recruiters and staff with organizing, planning, and executing innovative on and off-campus recruiting events, such as Visitation Days, Open Houses and ShaDOw Days geared toward undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Actively engage prospective students in conversation about CUSOM.
Continuously improving presentations and innovative recruitment and retention strategies for more effective on and off campus recruitment.
Assist with and support CUSOM’s Student Ambassador Program.
Assist with, support, and staff advise Campbell University’s UG Pre-SOMA student organization.
Assist with and support recruitment and advisement efforts for the Campbell University’s UG Early Acceptance Program.
Assist with and support recruitment and advisement efforts for the Campbell University’s JD DO Dual Degree program .
Attend national conferences to support personal development, such as NAAHP and OMED.
Submit a monthly report of activities and visits to the Director of Admissions, and maintain up-to-date calendars and travel logs of recruitment visits/events.
Perform other duties as assigned; may require involvement in admissions processes beyond that required of other support staff members.
Participate in the Office of Student Affairs’ special events such as Accepted Students Day, Orientation, White Coat Ceremony, and Graduation.
Must be able to travel extensively primarily throughout North Carolina and the Southeast U.S. and occasionally outside those target areas.
Must be able to work independently.
Ensure updated promotional items/giveaways are stocked at all times.
Maintain professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
Recruiting, student services, office management, academic advising required.
Previous admissions, sales and/or marketing experience preferred.
Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector is also preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be proficient in word processing and computer usage experience.

Ability to manage time well and work under stressful conditions with an even temperament.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet.
The ability to demonstrate tact, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials and the public.
Ability to work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
Ability to exercise independent judgments in complex and new situations.
Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects, and still meet strict deadlines.
Detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment including researching new ways of accomplishing tasks, participating in training sessions, and being a self-starter and a team player, and willingness to assist in other areas as needed.
Broad knowledge of Campbell University policies and procedures.
