Infant Teacher Job DescriptionPosition Summary:
The Infant Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for infants (typically 6 weeks to 12 months old). This role fosters social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth while ensuring a secure and caring atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities: Infant Care & Development:
- Supervise and care for infants, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that support cognitive, motor, and sensory development.
- Maintain an engaging and stimulating classroom environment that encourages exploration.
- Foster emotional security by developing strong, caring relationships with each child.
- Support infants' emerging social skills, such as self-soothing, engagement, and interaction.
Classroom Management & Safety:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary environment following health and safety regulations.
- Follow proper diapering, feeding, and hygiene procedures in compliance with licensing regulations.
- Observe and document infants’ behaviors, growth, and milestones to communicate with parents and leadership.
- Follow safe sleep practices and ensure all infants are placed in cribs according to state regulations.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Build positive relationships with parents and provide daily reports on infants’ activities, feedings, and milestones.
- Collaborate with co-teachers and staff to create a supportive team environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training as required.
Compliance & Professionalism:
- Ensure compliance with childcare licensing standards and organizational policies.
- Remain up to date with best practices in early childhood education.
- Report any concerns regarding child development or safety to the appropriate supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred).
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (preferred).
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Prior experience working with infants in a licensed childcare setting (preferred).
