What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substation Engineering Manager - West region position at Campos EPC LLC?
We are continuing to grow and have an excellent opportunity to join the Campos EPC Power Delivery Team as a Substation Engineering Manager in our west region! The Substation Engineering Manager is responsible for collaborative identification, capture, and execution of substation and switchyard projects for Campos EPC’s Electric Utilities group. This includes leading estimating and proposal development, project execution, and client and subcontractor management, coordinated with employees from various internal disciplines. The Substation Engineering Manager may also be relied upon for technical input on renewable energy projects (solar, energy storage, microgrid).
This role requires an experienced and highly competent substation engineer familiar with including distribution and high voltage substations, who ensures that project deliverables are met or exceeded during execution. This role will require an in-office presence at our regional office locations and will also require some domestic travel to clients and sites within the region.
Job Duties
- Actively promote Campos EPC’s culture of safety; demonstrate safety leadership in internal meetings, client meetings and fieldwork.
- Respond and write proposals for competitive RFPs, and prepare estimates for electric services and/or EPC work
- Leads project team in technical conceptual design and procurement phases of substation projects up to 500kV
- Manages schedule, budget, and scope of services and/or EPC projects
- Interfaces between the client, external stakeholders and internal stakeholders to ensure project success
- Ability to work in both a corporate and field environment
- Possess and maintain in-depth knowledge of electric substation principles, practices, procedures, methods and standards
- Physical Design - Engineering and design of equipment, structures, duct banks, grounding, lighting, static protection, relay houses
- P&C Design – Protection and control systems, one-line/three-line diagrams, wiring and connection diagrams, relay schemes, comm systems.
- Develop/review complex electrical system models (ETAP, PSLF, PLSCAD) and validate various system study findings/recommendations.
- Familiarity with utility Outage Planning; experience with and leadership of outage planning is a plus.
- Schedule and attend field walk-downs with internal team, customers, subcontractors, and construction personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Substation project/EPC experience 7 years
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum or equivalent and 7 years of related working experience
- Field experience in the electric utilities sector working with crews is preferred
- Previous experience leading teams is preferred
- Professional Engineer license
- Strong communications and ability to connect directly with clients; business development experience preferred
- This role has 25 % travel to Project Sites and client offices
SALARY: $150K-180K base salary depending on experience and location
