POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Seasonal Painter
FLSA: Non-Exempt
STATUS: Seasonal: Approximately April through September or October
RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented part-time painter to support our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have experience in surface preparation and applying paint to various exterior and interior surfaces, with a particular focus on wood siding. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys working outdoors and in a camp environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, caulking, and cleaning.
- Apply primer, paint, or stain to wood siding and other surfaces using brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
- Inspect and repair minor damage to wood siding and trim before painting.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas; store materials and tools properly after use.
- Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work independently or as part of a small team to complete projects efficiently.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors on progress, needs, or issues.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in residential or commercial painting preferred.
- Familiarity with surface prep tools, painting equipment, and paint types.
- Comfortable working at heights (ladders, scaffolding) and on uneven outdoor terrain.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality finishes.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Work Environment
- Work is primarily outdoors, subject to weather conditions.
- May require occasional weekend work depending on project needs.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Experience: 2 – 3 years of experience preferred
Able to manage multiple tasks
Able to communicate well both orally and in writing
Willing to learn new skills as demonstrated by working with contracted service personnel
Able to operate a motor vehicle and must possess a valid driver’s license
ENVIRONMENT:
1 Regular exposure to extremes of temperature, surface conditions, heights, etc
2 Frequent exposure to airborne particles, dust, fumes, chemical and solvents particular to the maintenance and construction industry
3 Frequently required to lift and carry objects weighing up to fifty pounds; occasionally required to lift and carry objects weighing more than fifty pounds
4 Frequent reaching at, above and below shoulder level is required
5 Frequent hand manipulation required to grasp and/or handle a wide variety of objects and to operate controls
6 Frequent bending and squatting required; occasional twisting and kneeling required
7 Able to do work that involves walking, bending, climbing stairs, descending into cellars or climbing into attics, assessing close areas, standing and driving for various periods of time
