What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at CampusPoint?
Availability: Monday - Friday, 8-5 pm. Position will move into hybrid once training is complete.
Local expanding property management company in Renton is looking for an Accountant. In this role, you'll monitor site accounts receivable entries, and perform accounting duties such as journal entries and bank reconciliations for assigned properties.
DUTIES
- Prepare and enter monthly journal entries for income and expenses into the computer system.
- Adjust journal entries and re-classification entries into the accounting system, as requested, for assigned properties.
- Audit site reports and make necessary corrections to the A/R system.
- Assist in training the site managers on A/R and other accounting procedures.
- Establish and maintain rapport with site managers, portfolio managers, accounting staff, and other corporate associates.
- Maintain positive operating and other cash account balances for assigned projects by ensuring timely posting of cash receipts and disbursements.
- Reconcile bank accounts for projects assigned.
- Enter adjusting journal entries and re-classification entries into the accounting system as requested for assigned properties
- Prepare and review the accuracy of monthly financial statements and other reports of assigned projects. Financial statements must be submitted to the Controller on time
- Reconcile mortgage escrow accounts and maintain correct G/L balances
- Enter payroll expenses into the general ledger
- Calculate the management fee for billing
- Gather and properly organize information for year-end audits for auditors
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree from an accredited Community College with primary major of study in accounting or business administration and 1 year of experience; Education requirement may be substituted for 3 years’ experience as a full-charge bookkeeper or accountant through financial statements
- Proficient with applying accrual and cash basis accounting
- Experience with reconciling bank and G/L accounts
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
- Must have working knowledge Office Suite (Office 365) and Yardi.
- 10-key by touch.
- Multi-family real estate industry experience is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Must understand accrual accounting. Needs to understand and apply the concepts of prepaid and accrued taxes and insurance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
