Join the Canacre team in an exciting role working on leading edge infrastructure projects.  

We are technical experts in land, energy, and transportation development delivering accurate, innovative, and agile solutions to our partners. We provide land acquisition, geospatial mapping, data management, web-based GIS, community relations, land feasibility studies, and permitting services. Canacre’s clients include developers, large scale service providers, and government entities that are involved in the planning and development of energy projects, rights of way, resources, and infrastructure across Canada and the United States. Canacre works on large-scale wind and solar power projects, high-voltage transmission lines, pipeline projects, municipal roads projects, and groupings of cellular towers and rooftop antennas.  

The GIS Specialist focuses on GIS analysis, manages incoming and outgoing data, creates high quality map products, and identifies mapping requirements for internal and external parties.

In addition, your role will be to:

  • Develop high quality custom maps and reports, report mapping and online maps/tools
  • Convert data and conduct GIS analysis
  • Create, edit, and manage data for a variety of projects
  • Perform data analysis and spatial queries
  • Design and conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures on mapping and data products
  • Conduct evaluations of cartographic and GIS principles
  • Address and resolve issues relating to project and/or data
  • Liaise with Canacre Field Team on related projects
  • Set up internal GIS system including field data collection capabilities and in-house data management systems
  • Provide drawings, data and geographic information for various environmental projects and reports
  • Create, analyse, and maintain vector, raster and tabular data and databases
  • Liaise with Canacre departments to deliver quality service

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary degree in GIS, Cartography, Geography, Civil Engineering, or related field of study, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in GIS
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro) and its extensions
  • Professional experience with CityView, CityWide, WorkTech or other municipal asset management software is considered an asset
  • Experience creating online ESRI tools is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Access DB & Reporting Tools, Microsoft Excel, digitizing, editing, and performing queries in ArcGIS, AutoCAD and relational databases
  • Ability to create ESRI based webmaps, web applications, dashboards, Survey 123 forms and digital data capture tools
  • An understanding of how to integrate AutoCAD and GIS data
  • SQL/Python/Arcade language skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A keen attention to detail
