Position Overview:
The Cutting Room Manager works with the Director of Operations to determine cutting priorities. They communicate daily cutting requirements to the Cutting Room Supervisors who communicate with the cutting and spreading operators, based on the cutting schedule, marker guidelines, and cutting specifications. The Manager also is involved with all Cutting Room projects along with the Director and the assigned Industrial Engineer. They also provide daily direction and supervision to the department, and both shifts where applicable.
What You’ll Do:
- Monitors Cutting Schedule and plans to produce cuts according to dates and fabric availability
- Works with Marker Making Supervisor to ensure accuracy and efficiency of markers
- Spread and cut lays according to markers and cut plan provided by the Marker Making Department
- Monitors the schedule of all re-cuts and repairs on request of sewing department and Warranty & Repair, and maintains records
- Oversee and monitor the cutting of samples, patterns, pockets and any special cutting requests for Product Engineering or management
- Oversees the monitoring of the quality of issued fabric and informs QA of any issues
- Responds to inquiries from Plant Manager & In-house Production Manager
- Looks for ways to increase efficiency
- Maintains daily records of spreading and cutting and recuts
- Oversees the maintenance of the Cutting Room in a neat and organized matter and compliance to the future 5S project to be established in the Cutting Room
- Develops maintains and publishes all Cutting Room KPI’s
- Monitors those KPI’s and adjusts when required
- Is involved with all Cutting Room projects involved with cutting capacity and cost savings
- Works with QA to maintain cut quality
- Comes prepared to a weekly meeting with the Plant Manger to discuss on-going issues and progress on projects and KPI’s
- Monitors & Orders supplies as required
Let's Talk About You
- Diploma or Equivalent in a Garment Manufacturing Technology or related experience
- Minimum 5-7 years’ of experience managing a cutting department for a clothing manufacturer
- Familiar with a range of cutting equipment including equipment used for spreading manual and automated, and cutting, manual and computerized
- Strong planning and organization skills required to maintain a constant flow of work, and to achieve consistent production results
- Effective interpersonal skills to be able to manage and motivate workers
- Ability to work independently
- Strong initiative to consistently meet deadlines
- Teamwork, Multitask, Detail oriented
- Ability to prioritize, confident
- Open to challenges and change, decision making, interpersonal skills, analytical, organization skills, goal oriented, Conflict resolutions, problem solving, open to criticism and hard working
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. on a daily/regular basis
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work in a noisy factory environment
- Available to work shifts and weekends as required
