Position Overview:
The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring timely manufacturing process shop floor Management within the budgeted cost parameters of the facility. The position encompasses the functions of Production Scheduling/ Planning, Inventory Management, Employee Relations and Quality Assurance. The position also requires the individual to provide leadership to the shop floor and continuously reengineer the existing manufacturing set ups in keeping with up to date techniques and best practises.
What You’ll Do:
- Monitor progress on the factory floor, determine if there are any issues, such as line balancing. Step in and assist Supervisors with trouble shooting as needed
- Track daily the number of units produced in respective department and review with the Plant Manager and the Leadtec Administrator to ensure quotas are being met; create action plans if quotas are not being met and identify solution
- Assist the Industrial Engineering Team to find the best production friendly methods for manufacturing and production
- Ensure production schedule is being followed and check factory floor for discrepancies; make changes in production where needed to address any problem areas
- Maintain target dates for shipping orders and report back to head office any issues
- Review quality issues with QA and supervisors to ensure they are being addressed and make corrections for improvement
- Perform method analysis with the supervisors and implement lean concepts wherever possible
- Review with the Director, Manufacturing on the current status of production and suggest possible improvements to assist in on time delivery
- Review any issues with the maintenance/mechanic that may be preventing production from flowing smoothly
- Meet with supervisors daily regarding scheduling of overtime or to address any personnel issues
- Coach and train existing and new supervisors
- Provide coaching and performance feedback to direct reports
- Interview for new hires as scheduled by Human Resources
- Ensure that new processes are developed and understood; oversee that all PPS are made correctly
- Ensure quality standards are maintained
- Manage the Union grievances
Let's Talk About You:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a production / Plant managerial capacity at a senior level
- Hands on Experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles and tools
- Experience in managing operations of a high end outerwear manufacturing set- up with multi style and quality production ability
- Must be able to deal effectively with a diverse group of employees
- Must be familiar with manufacturing techniques and systems with an in depth knowledge of Industrial Engineering concepts related to Apparel Manufacturing (Work Measurements/ Method studies/ Ratings/ incentive calculations)
- A very good understanding on sewing methods and systems for outerwear styles
- Must have knowledge of Quality Assurance systems and inventory Management
- Ability to prioritize, multi- task, operate proactively, work as a team and handle challenges
- Excellent common sense, judgment, decision making abilities, interpersonal & analytical skills, evaluating options and generating solutions
- Confident, articulate, organized, detail oriented, gaol oriented, self-motivated and work smart
- Must be familiar with computers and business software such as MS Office, Excel, CAD and ERP Software.
