PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: In the performance of their respective tasks and duties, all team members are expected to meet the following requirements:
- Work independently performing quality work within deadlines. Understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other team members and county departments to complete their duties. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with attention to detail. Be organized and able to work with multiple deadlines managing a variety of projects when assigned.
- Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with team members, county departments and outside entities.
- Maintains strict confidentiality as directed; be honest, trustworthy, dependable, and flexible.
SUMMARY:
The Canadian County Expo Authority staff members work in a team environment performing a variety of tasks and special events within the facility buildings and grounds. Successful candidates will be energetic, dependable and take pride in producing quality results with a great attitude and customer service. This position requires working in collaboration with team members. This role will be tasked with a variety of duties where flexibility is a must and the availability to work abnormal evening and weekend hours is critical to the organization’s success. The team member is expected to take part in completing all necessary tasks while simultaneously assisting in developing operational methods globally that improve our service for clients and our staff.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
· Work closely with Facility Manager to ensure proper maintenance of facility grounds
· Maintain parking lots (sweep asphalt, grade gravel, fill hoes, etc)
· General lawn care (mowing, edging, fertilizing, and watering lawns)
· Planting, cultivating, and caring for trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers, and ornamental plants.
· Weeding and pest control (hoeing weeds, controlling grass diseases and pests, and inspecting plants for damage).
· Litter/trash removal across the grounds.
· Operating and maintaining irrigation systems.
· Operate Equipment Tractor / Mower / Edger / Weed Wacker/ Skid Steer / Truck / Telehandler / Water Trailer / Loader / Dump trailer / Debris loaders.
· Assist Lead Event Technician in all duties needed to prepare for and breakdown after events when applicable.
· Assist with the pickup, drop off and supervision of inmate labor.
· Organizing, maintaining and retention of Expo & Event Center equipment and records of equipment use.
· Capable of lifting 80lbs
· General assistance in event preparation
· Communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, and customers to ensure maximum speed and accuracy
· Follow safety guidelines to operate in a safe manner.
· Working closely with customers and distributing rental items and Expo services to customers if applicable.
· Understand and provide leadership to achieve goals and objectives to those around you.
· Resolve unusual service requests, equipment breakdowns and schedule changes with timely communications to all parties involved.
· Interact with customers to solve and rectify any issues and improve the overall customer experience.
· Serve as a positive representative of Canadian County Expo Authority employees to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty to the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High School Degree required.
- 2 years’ experience in a related field preferred.
- Experience and certifications as an equipment operator preferred.
- Perform detailed work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment handling multiple tasks with flexibility in a calm, professional manner.
- Effectively communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff, clients, suppliers and guests in a clear, business-like, respectful and personable manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative environment.
- Ability to apply problem solving skills and logic to develop alternative solutions.
- Ability to represent the facility in a courteous and professional manner.
- Willingness to assist staff where/when needed.
- Focus on and prioritize duties that are most critical and time sensitive.
- Proficiency with computers, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Adhere to a high level of attention to detail.
- Maintain open, direct, positive and objective lines of communication with management.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Long hours, nights and weekends during peak periods in a high-stress environment.
- Frequent or continual movement from place to place with normal physical mobility covering long distances with ease, managing assigned tasks throughout various indoor and outdoor locations within and around the property and in potentially inclement/severe weather conditions.
- Regularly lift, carry, and put away items weighing up to 80 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry heavier items and/or assist others in lifting heavier objects as job demands.
- Walk and/or stand for extended periods in addition to other prolonged physical exertions including seeing, hearing, reaching, grasping, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, crouching, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas.
