What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist position at Canadian Valley Electric?
Position Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist assists the Human Resources department with all HR functions, including but not limited to: recruitment, employee relations, compliance, engagement, and effective processes. May assist with Workers Compensation and DOT reporting requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains confidentiality in all Human Resources Department activities in order to protect the privacy of employees and the Cooperative.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; Workers Compensation, DOT files, and training and development.
- Ensures maintenance and compliance of current and past personnel files, including electronic files, in order to meet government regulations and Cooperative requirements (filing, record retention, etc.), and to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assists with the recruitment process, works with supervisors and managers in order to attract and retain the best candidates.
- Assists with the onboarding and offboarding of employees.
- Responds to authorized requests for information and verification of employment for other employers, banking professionals, etc. to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Process unemployment forms and address agency determinations to ensure accurate and fair results for the Cooperative and former employees.
- Develops work documents for existing and new processes.
- Builds constructive and effective relationships; uses diplomacy and tact, utilizes peer relationships for feedback and validation.
- Coordinates and communicates changes in processes. Assists in the training of current and new employees. May assist or provide training as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in human resource management.
- Work experience may be substituted for the education requirement as well as additional education may be substituted for work experience.
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified within the first year.
