Position Summary:
The Installation and Maintenance Technician is responsible for residential and business installations along with routine and emergency maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on fiber drops, internet, phone, and any other service installations throughout the service area. Interacts closely with subscribers to coordinate the routing and installation of fiber devices and outlets. Ensures quality workmanship on all home and business installations.
Essential Functions:
- Performs professional installation of broadband equipment at the subscriber’s location. Runs and pulls lines through attics, crawl spaces, and walls.
- Buries and/or pulls up line, using various hand and power tools and other equipment. Installs equipment on the outside of the building.
- Coordinates with members on the location of outlets and other equipment.
- Performs professional installation of VoIP broadband equipment at subscriber’s location, typically installing via existing lines.
- Works inside the subscriber’s home and interacts with subscribers in a helpful, professional manner at all times. Exercises great care to avoid damage to property and reports any damage to appropriate personnel as soon as possible.
- Educates subscribers on the proper use of installed equipment.
- Performs troubleshooting of the fiber system. Splices fiber optic cable as needed, using fusion methods. Tests repaired, new, or updated equipment and fiber to ensure proper functions.
Education and Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years of experience in telecommunications and/or fiber optics construction, maintenance, and splicing and member/customer service.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Home construction/remodeling experience is beneficial.
