Job Summary:
Canaveral Port Authority is looking for full time associates to assist guests in all Recreation/Customer Experience areas, which include Jetty Park, Maritime Center, and Special Events. The position requires general cashier and customer service duties as well as an enthusiasm for the Port and surrounding areas, interacting with tourists and local guests. General duties include hospitality to park and campground visitors, processing guest entrance into Jetty Park using point of sale systems, which requires basic knowledge of ticketing procedures, ticket structures, discounts, etc. The position also includes retail functions such as organizing and stocking of products. Due to the flexible nature of the facility, staff may be called upon to work with or coordinate through other departments including special and after-hours events Port-wide.
Essential Functions:
Customer/Guest Services:
- Provide exemplary customer service to all guests by welcoming and maintaining a friendly professional environment.
- Accepts payments and must be able to make change.
- Provide visitors/campground guests with information and responses to questions regarding both Jetty Park Campground, general CPA information and other local points of interest.
- Operate and staff the front desks of both facilities in addition to the Jetty Park booth with responsibilities that include ticketing, cash handling and reconciliation of cash drawer.
- Must be able to respond to concerns/issues of guests.
- Must be able to keep guest confidentially with personal information (credit card, phone, and home address)
- Keeps daily balance sheet of cash received and admissions sold.
- Arrive/depart guest and create reservations using online reservation system (CampLife)
- Ensure that all rules/regulations are being adhered to by guests.
- Communicate with CPA staff and departments on maintenance/emergency issues.
- Provide information about group/function space.
- Answer phones call and take messages when required.
- Basic knowledge and experience with Microsoft Suite applications (Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, etc.)
- Other duties assigned by leadership
Building:
- Perform various opening/closing duties such as, but not limited to, cleaning, locking/unlocking doors, on and off-site analysis of surrounding areas.
Financial
- Working with POS systems, associate must complete opening and closing paperwork including bank and ticket reconciliation, and accurate record keeping of inventory both incoming and outgoing.
Departmental:
- Expected to read, acknowledge and follow all policies and procedures (on PowerDMS and otherwise).
- Attendance at and participation during team meetings is expected.
- During emergency conditions, all CPA employees are automatically considered essential employees and may be subject to recall. These events may include, but are not limited to, natural, man-made, or public health emergencies. Employees may be expected to perform emergency and/or recovery operations outside of their normal assigned responsibilities and routine working hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills
- Prior cashier experience preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience required (recreation/hospitality specific)
- Basic computer skills required with competency in systems such as Microsoft Office and ability to learn other work-related systems such as CampLife
- Knowledge of Port and local area knowledge also preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
- Must possess a valid Florida’s Driver’s License
- Must be able to pass a background check
Licenses / Certification Required:
- Valid Florida Drivers License
Physical Requirement:
- Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work
- May involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and moderate-weight materials (30-50 pounds)
- Standing for 6 hours per shift
Environmental Requirements
- The majority of time will be spent indoors, occasional outdoor activity
- Frequent schedule changes due to launches and other events
- 7 day a week operation with evening and holiday hours; flexible shifts
