Job Summary
An entry-level opportunity for a maritime-focused graduate to receive extensive one-on-one training and mentorship in cruise business development. This role will be responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and coordinating of cruise business development efforts at the second busiest cruise Port in the world, aimed at increasing multi-day cruise operators, cruise line products, passenger volumes, and revenue. The position will also ensure high levels of customer service for cruise line partners and a quality experience for their guests. Based on job performance and business needs of the Port, this position may take on progressively higher job functions in the future.
Essential Functions
The following list of essential functions is representative of the tasks performed in this position. It is not an exhaustive list, and management may assign additional duties as needed.
- Assists with formulating, identifying and evaluating cruise business development opportunities that support the strategic business model and strengthen the Port’s visibility and growth
- Maintain Port’s master cruise schedule
- Evaluate and analyze the needs of cruise market areas to identify opportunities for growth
- Assists in the preparation of marketing plans, operational strategies, and itinerary planning to increase cruise business in both homeported and port-of-call cruise vessels
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support departmental and organizational initiatives
- Participate in developing new business ideas and plans that align with the Port’s mission
- Contribute to the development of the cruise business media plan and related content
- Reviews and verifies reports, processes, financial data, and forecast information as part of developing the Port’s strategic plan for cruise business development
- Build and maintain knowledge of the Port Tariff and cruise partner contracts
- Assists in formulating policies, programs and capital projects that address current and future cruise business needs at the Port
- During emergency conditions, all CPA employees are automatically considered essential employees and may be subject to recall. These events may include, but are not limited to, natural, man-made, or public health emergencies. Employees may be expected to perform emergency and/or recovery operations outside of their normal assigned responsibilities and routine working hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Marine Transportation, Logistics, International Maritime Business, or similar, from Federal or State Maritime Academy preferred.
- Experience in maritime business, transportation, seaport operations, shipping or vessel traffic systems; or an equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience
- Strong communication skills – verbal, written, and excellent presentation skills required
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and analyze marketing and sales data to implement effective business development plans
- Proficient in computer applications for statistical analysis, report preparation, and presentations. Expertise in PowerPoint, Excel, able to forecast in excel or ability to learn this skill quickly

Physical Requirements:
- Tasks may involve the ability to exert light physical effort in a sedentary to light work environment
- May involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (20-30 lbs).
Environmental Requirements:
- Work is performed in usual office conditions
- Able to work nights and weekends as needed, and travel for extended periods both domestically and internationally.
