What you will be doing...
1) Maintains Core Billing Responsibilities (Based on Role):
- Billing Specialist: Process and submit claims, post payments, follow up on outstanding accounts to ensure timely reimbursement, and manage refunds and patient collections.
- Insurance Authorization Specialist: Obtain and verify insurance authorizations for procedures and services, ensuring coverage and preventing denials.
- Patient Financial Advocate: Assist patients with understanding their financial responsibilities, setting up payment plans, and addressing billing concerns.
- Also responsible for other duties as assigned.
2) Provides Team Support & Leadership:
- Serve as a point of contact for the billing team, assisting with troubleshooting and workflow improvements in conjunction with and in the absence of Revenue Cycle Manager.
- Provide guidance and support to billing staff regarding payer requirements, claims processing, and account follow-up in conjunction with Revenue Cycle Manager.
- Assist with the orientation and training of new employees, and provide ongoing education on billing procedures and compliance.
- Assist in maintaining departmental efficiency and handling escalated billing concerns in the absence of the Revenue Cycle Manager.
- Collaborates with the Revenue Cycle Manager to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement in the billing process.
- Maintains a steady work pace, modeling good work ethic and habits for team members.
- Accepts additional duties or special projects as deemed necessary by the Revenue Cycle Manager.
Requirements
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Certification in Insurance/Billing program or equivalent preferred.
Essential Job-related Experience:
· Minimum of 3–5 years of medical billing experience
· Maintains annual overall performance evaluation of meets or exceeds expectations during employment.
Preferred Job-related Experience
· At least 1 year experience in a leadership role
Job- Related Skills:
· Strong knowledge of medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR).
· Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
· Ability to remain calm, communicate clearly and demonstrate leadership when working with team members.
· Attention to detail with strong time-management skills.
· Displays exceptional leadership and facilitator skills
